HAARP AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES THAT AFFECT HUMAN BEHAVIOUR

WHAT IS HAARP?

HAARP stands for High-frequency Active Auroral Research Project. HAARP is a joint project by the U.S. Navy and Air Force in Alaska to create a very large radio frequency transmitter which can transmit an electromagnetic beam into the upper atmosphere or ionosphere. This radio-frequency energy is broadcast through a field of 48 antennas which are 72 feet tall and they have a cross diapoled across the top. Electromagnetic waves then bounce back onto Earth and penetrate everything--living and dead. Normally, radio frequency energy dissipates with distance, but by firing them in a unique way, the energy is focussed and a cyclotron resonance effect occurs. This produces very much more concentrated and potent energy when it delivers its load either through magnetic lines of force or to the ionosphere. The cyclotron resonance energy wraps itself around these magnetic lines and it moves north to south. This was intended to create a shielding effect during a nuclear attack. The ideal place to locate these instruments happens to be in the northern regions where the magnetic lines of force intersect the planet, and the research project was located in Alaska.

HAARP HEATS THE IONOSPHERE HAARP is an advanced model of an 'ionospheric heater'. The ionosphere is the electrically-charged sphere surrounding Earth's upper atmosphere. It ranges between about 40 to 600 miles above Earth's surface. It also acts as a filter or shield for the planet. It filters out X-rays, cosmic rays and various particle streams that would be quite damaging to life on Earth. In fact, losing the ionosphere or altering it in some way would be significantly worse than anything that would result from ozone depletion. Bernard Eastlund suggested in his original patent that you could actually knock out some of the pollutants and increase ozone production.
THE AMPLIFICATION EFFECT Another aspect of HAARP that is extremely important is a non-linear effect. Researchers at Stanford University discovered that if you put energy into the upper ionosphere and magnetosphere, in the ULF range (ultra low frequency range), you can create a catalyst which causes natural energy to be released. They found that the signal sent up was amplified by a thousand times when it arrived there. HAARP, when it is fully completed, will have one billion watts of effective radiative power. If you can manipulate that energy to get the amplification effect, it is huge. They have also created some new signal amplifiers. According to patents, transferring energy through this transmitter into huge Mylar reflectors and bouncing the signal back to the earth to where it can be re-introduced to the energy grid, is supposed to be economically feasible in the next couple of years. The problem is that if the reflector moves only slightly, you may have a path of energy rolling through your neighbourhood. Research also suggests that by using this instrument, you could actually change the chemical composition of the upper atmosphere.

WEATHER MODIFICATION The idea that HAARP can be used for affecting weather systems is pretty startling to us. HAARP researchers felt that manipulating weather systems would be advantageous in terms of drought control, and producing rainfall where it is needed. With HAARP, you can create a column-shaped hole with a diameter of 30 miles that rises a couple of hundred kilometers through the atmosphere. The lower atmosphere then moves up the column to fill in that space, and it changes pressure systems below. The fact is, that it can literally be used to divert or alter the course of jet streams.
The April/May 00 issue of Scientific American is about weather, and there is a specific article on the effects of a slight bend in the jet stream. This slight change happened to occur right above the HAARP facility. That little movement caused a storm front 4,000 miles away in east Texas and Louisiana to move into central Florida where it deposited a couple of tornadoes. This is interesting but it is not conclusive that it was a cause and effect relationship. However, weather modification is certainly possible with only a slight change. In fact, the European Space Agency contracted Bernard Eastlund, and in 1998 he completed a paper on how to knock out tornadoes using HAARP instruments on the ground. That paper was peer-reviewed and presented in Italy and it was widely accepted, in fact, so much so, that NASA and FEMA contracted Bernard Eastlund to do further research on weather modification using satellite-based technology and this was published in late 1999, early 2000.
The problem is we cannot model the entire global system. We don't even understand fully how the weather operates. And yet, the experiments go on. The issue of weather modification is disturbing because we have treaties that forbid it. The last three secretaries of defense have all suggested reopening that treaty because there would be significant military advantage.
MILITARY USES FOR HAARP HAARP publicity gives the impression that it is mainly an academic project with the goal of changing the ionosphere to improve communications for our own good. However, other US military documents put it more clearly: HAARP aims to learn how to "exploit the ionosphere for Department of Defense purposes". HAARP can be used for:
1. Enhancing wartime communications. The ionosphere is critical for global and wireless communications. With HAARP you can wipe out the communications of your adversaries over an extremely large area, while keeping the military's own communications systems working.
2. Missile Defense HAARP can be used to detect incoming low-level planes and cruise missiles, making other technologies obsolete. This technology also allows "over the horizon radar" which is very important. From the HAARP research, it was deduced that you can create an over the horizon radar effect that has a great deal of accuracy. Over the horizon technologies of the past were distorted and hard to see. The HAARP technology uses two transmitters. One creates a plasma that reflects the signal from the second transmitter so you can see around the curvature of the earth. This ability to look around the curvature of the earth allows you to spot things at very, very high elevations, all the way down to cruise missiles, essentially making cruise missiles obsolete. And HAARP creates an energy field that produces a very unique signature around each incoming object, so that you can discriminate which missiles are carrying nuclear payloads and which ones aren't. Thirdly, with enough power you can create what is called an EMP, an electromagnetic pulse, a surge of energy sufficient to disrupt the onboard avionics that control the flight path, causing the object to disrupt or break up.
3. Earth penetrating tomography is one of the primary uses of HAARP. HAARP can act like a broadcast antenna and sends a signal back to the earth in the ELF (extremely low frequency) range, that can pass through the earth and sea for several kilometers for communication with submarines or determining underground nuclear facilities, tunnels, and defining mineral strata.
Problems with using HAARP for Earth Penetrating Tomography Brooks Agnew, a specialist in the area of earth penetrating tomography, did research back in the 1970s using 30 watts of electricity to send a signal into the earth to locate underground oil and gas deposits. Brooks used only 30 watts of power, but he said that if you increased this to a few thousand watts, you could possibly create problems that you don't anticipate, in other words you might trigger geophysical events within the earth. This statement was echoed in a lecture given by the previous Secretary of Defense, Cohen, on April 27, 1997 at the University of Georgia. He was speaking on weapons of mass destruction and he asserted that "electromagnetic waves can be used to stimulate geophysical events such as earthquakes, climate change, volcanic eruptions and the like". In fact, there is an international treaty going back to 1977 forbidding the use of weapon technologies which do these very same things. The fact that we might trigger a geophysical event using this system, has been and continues to be a major concern. Secretary of Defense Cohen also stated that this is being used in an ecotype of terrorism, whereby they can alter climate, set off earthquakes and volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. EXTREMELY LOW FREQUENCY (ELF) RADIATION When HAARP sends up a signal in the high frequency range and they begin to pulse or vibrate that signal, the ionosphere itself converts from DC to AC, begins to mirror the pulse rate and acts like a giant broadcast antenna in the sky, perhaps as much as a 1,000 miles above this transmitter. It pulses the signal back to the earth in the extremely low frequency (ELF) range. This is between one and approximately 100 Hertz. That is what is used for communication with submarines at depth using 14 and 26 mile long antennas buried underground in Michigan, Wisconsin and in Alaska to create that signal. With HAARP, they thought they would have a little more versatility and the ability to communicate at higher data rates and more efficiently with submarines at depth. It is the same ELF that is used for earth penetrating tomography because you need a long wave in order to penetrate the earth to any great degree. Short wavelengths just don't go very far. The problem is, earth penetrating tomography operates in the ELF range, which happens to correlate to biologically active frequencies in the human body, particularly in the human brain.

FREQUENCY RANGES IN THE HUMAN BRAIN The human brain predominantly operates on a frequency of between one and 30 pulses per second, cycles per second Hertz, and it varies. One to four pulses per second is the delta range. This is where you are in your deepest, deepest sleep. The next level is theta, which is about 4 to 7 cycles per second. This is the range where you are in that semi-awake, semi-asleep stage where you are sort of drifting off. You are aware of your dreams but are aware you are awake. This is where most three to five-year-olds spend most of their lives, which explains an awful lot. But it is also where they learn a tremendous amount. This is where they learn language, social skills, everything that kids learn between the ages of three and five. This is also the state where a lot of people re-experience childhood events, because that is where you are when you are a child. The next stage is the alpha stage, which goes from about 7 to 12 Hertz. This is where you are when you do your most creative and intellectual work. It is interesting to note that the planet Earth pulses at Schumann's Resonance which is 7.83 Hertz. That is the ideal frequency for human beings to be engaged in, and we are separated from that because we are surrounded by Tesla's invention of 60 cycles of AC current which is agitating to most of our systems. The next level is beta. Low beta is where we are actively engaged in learning and thinking and dialogue. You are in high beta when you get agitated and angry, when you have high, strong emotions.

EFFECTS OF ELF ON THE BRAIN The problem is that external signals like the radio frequency signals of HAARP, and any electromagnetic signals from light and sound waves that can be pulsed in this ELF range will cause the brain to begin to lock onto that external signal and begin to mirror it. When it does so, it changes the character and chemistry of the brain during that period of time and your behaviour changes. Early researchers have claimed that these ELF concentrations of energy are harmless, but over the last 20 years, researchers have recognized that very low energy concentrations can have profound physiological effects. The military rationalizes that HAARP instruments broadcast the signal in the ELF range and this is a very, very low level of electromagnetic radiation by the time it gets back to the earth, that it is nothing to worry about, that it is about equal to what the earth naturally produces. They compare it to things like the flickering of the television set.

ZAPPING THE BODY WITH ELF However, Jose Delgado at Yale University researched radio frequency energy, and discovered that he could influence the brain using a pulsed radio frequency signal concentration at one-fiftieth of the energy that the earth naturally produces, and this was sufficient to change the behaviour of primates and humans like flipping on and off a light switch. It was not the magnitude of energy, but its specific frequency which triggered events within the brain, changed brain chemistry and consequently changed behaviour. A few years ago, a story was released about children having epileptic seizures from watching a cartoon on television. A reaction in the brain was caused by the flicker rate hitting one of these frequencies inadvertently. It wasn't the amount of energy; it was the frequency. It is like dialing a radio station. In between stations, you hear static. When you hit a resonant frequency, a signal that corresponds to the receiver, you get a clear signal.
The same is true of the human body. Every organ, every chemical, every element within our body has a unique resonant frequency that can be measured. In fact, the basic organs of the body have been measured for radio frequency symmetry by the University of Utah under contract with the United States Air Force. The study is cited in our books. You can look it up. They have actually determined the amount of radio frequency energy each part of the body can tolerate. So if you want to stop a heart, you know how to do it. This is kind of a gross application of the technology. A more refined application would be to target a chemical or chemical compound within the population that is present in all of us, that is universal. For instance, if you send a signal that resonates at the same frequency as iodine, you trick the body into thinking it has been poisoned by iodine. And you have a mystery illness which doesn't show on tests because the iodine is not there. This can be used in lots of different ways. If everyone breaths in a substance during war, you can send energy that amplifies its effect, and you can create some pretty horrendous special effects.
The idea that HAARP inadvertently or purposefully might be used in this way is kind of shocking. In Between Two Ages (p.54-56), Zbigniew Brezinski, previous National Security Advisor to President Carter, discussed triggering an event in the ionosphere that could affect human behaviour. Referring to research out of UCLA by Gordon MacDonald, Brezinski suggested that if you could electronically stroke the ionosphere in just the right way to return a signal in the ELF range, you could manipulate the emotions of a population of a large geographic area. Between Two Ages is about technology's impact on society, culture and economies, and it gave a 25-year forecast of what was going to happen globally. It was written in the early '70s, so it reads like a history because it is dead right on. In Earth Rising: The Revolution, our latest book, we cite a CIA experiment in which they actually tried this in Eastern Europe. There is plenty of evidence that the Russians were doing this to us. Remember the macrowave beaming of the U.S. Embassy? There are reports of Russian research where they exposed primates to this same signal. This research is still classified because it caused disruption of physical health.

SAFETY LEVELS IN THE BIOSCIENCES The U.S. military research projects are separated into very distinct sub-sections so that no one really sees how it all connects except at a certain level of government. This is done for security reasons within the United States. It is the opposite in the former Soviet Union, which brings multi-disciplinary teams from the biological sciences, physics and the hard sciences together to investigate a topic, so that they can benefit from the knowledge of other disciplines. As a result, the Soviets had standards that were 1,000 times more stringent than U.S. standards of electromagnetic exposures because they had the expertise to see what subtle energy could do to your health. The root of HAARP research is to control and manipulate environmental factors for military advantage. There are no biological sciences or electrophysiologists associated with the HAARP project, meaning that the health effects of this system aren't really being monitored at all.

LOW LEVEL ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS SURROUND US DAILY We have 200 million times more radio frequency energy surrounding us today than we had a little over 100 years ago when the radio was invented. And this energy at the right frequencies does have an effect on us. Most of it is transparent, but there are window frequencies that are of concern. Virtually everything that surrounds us influences to some degree what is going on internally. It's different for every single person, because we eat differently, we metabolize our food differently, we react to energy differently. Some people are hypersensitive to electromagnetic fields within certain ranges and some are not. But certain technologies can affect massive percentages of the population.
In previous times, people could actually distinguish electrical differentials on the body. Some people are still hypersensitive today and can make distinctions about energy surrounding the body. A good example is when you have a power failure most people notice how quiet it is. The next time it happens, observe your body's general sensation. It is as if your whole body relaxes, the same feeling you get when you get out of the city and into rural areas. Your body has to constantly compensate for all of the electromagnetic fields that surround you because you are under this low-level stress most of your daily lives. If you have trouble with your sleep patterns at night, and you just can't get to sleep or sleep through the night, try turning off the circuit breaker to your bedroom. Try it for three or four days and see if that reduces that tension, because you have the electromagnetic current surrounding you and coils within your bed that also trap electromagnetic energy. Put a voltmeter on your bed before you kill the circuit and see what happens.

REFERENCES TO MIND-ALTERING TECHNOLOGY IN GOVERNMENT AND CORPORATE REPORTS What is happening in weapons systems, of which HAARP is one tiny minute infinitesimal particle is going to be unbelievable. Earth Rising: The Revolution documents the issue of mind control technologies. We analyzed the U.S. patent record, and found over three dozen U.S. patents dealing with this technology and its advancement from the early 1960s to present time. We found military and academic reports talking about future advancement in this area. You can externally influence what goes on within the human brain. The military is talking about doing this wirelessly. An electromagnetic signal from a distance can enter the human body and be decoded by the brain and perceived as speech, creating the illusion of a voice in the head.
The U.S. Science Advisory Board of the Air Force were researching memory and memory manipulation. Their original idea was that electromagnetic frequencies would be quite useful for training purposes such as learning a language or a sophisticated operation within the military. In 1996, they published a research document called New World Vistas: Air and Space for the 21st Century. In this paper they state: "It would also appear possible to create high fidelity speech in the human body, raising the possibility of covert suggestion and psychological direction. Thus, it may be possible to talk to selected adversaries in a fashion that would be most disturbing to them." In the same paper, they say, within the next 10 to 15 years, they will be able to go in and completely remove a memory set and replace it with a new one. According to the leading scientists in the field, the problem is that you bypass the conscious filter that sorts out what is good and bad, what is right and wrong when you introduce information in this way. One Russian scientist by the name of Smirnoff said, "as if it were the voice of God, it cannot be resisted." As we all know, military technologies do eventually reach the civilian sector. It might take 20 or 30 years. If this kind of technology where there is no filtering migrates into the educational sector it could really change the character of the country. You accept the information as fact and do not question it.
Another really interesting publication we quote from pretty liberally is Space Cast 2020 which describes the advancement of this technology. We get a lot of our documentation from completed research from contracting offices, requests for proposals and corporate reports to stockholders. Eventually you put the pieces together and you can see quite clearly what is happening. The one that was the most startling was in Parameters which is a publication by the U.S. Army War College and the article was called The Mind Has No Fire Wall. In other words the mind has no protection. In it, they analyzed the Russian, European and American research, and deduced that affecting human behaviour and human mental processes was really the target of the new weapons technologies. The techniques developed by the Russians in this book include: * A psychotronic generator which produces a powerful electromagnetic emanation capable of being sent via telephone lines, TV, radio networks, supply pipes and incandescent lamps. The signal would manipulate the behaviour of those in contact with the signal. * A nervous system generator, which is designed to paralyze the central nervous systems of some insects. The system is being refined to have the same effect on humans. * "The twenty-fifth frame effect" is a technique where every 25th frame of a movie reel or video produced contains a message which is picked up by the subconscious so as to alter the conscious mind. * and so on…
The CBC show Undercurrents did one show on HAARP and another on technologies that affect human behaviour. I appeared on the Undercurrents show on mind control, and they also interviewed Smirnoff from the Russian Academy of Sciences, Persinger, a Canadian scientist who works in this field and two individuals by the name of Morris who were responsible for the introduction of non-lethal armaments concepts to the CIA during the Reagan and Bush administrations. There is plenty of evidence from these professionals who come from a military background. In fact, Smirnoff was the guy they contacted during the Waco event to try to change the behavior of the people within the compound. But the idea of using processes to control human beings is highly disturbing to me because if you look at any religious philosophy on the planet, one of its basic tenets is that you don't interfere with a person's free will. God doesn't do that. Why should man think he can do that? And that is exactly what this type of technology is about.

INVASION OF INDIVIDUAL PRIVACY
Biometrics refers to individual measurements of individual people. We all think of biometrics when we think of fingerprints. Fingerprints are unique, but we also have emanations from the face that are as unique as a fingerprint. The voice is as unique as a fingerprint. We have already heard of iris scans. These are all biometrics.
Monitoring Communications Essentially all communications, fax, telephone, internet particularly, are 100% monitored by super computers. Three hundred agencies within the five participating governments load in what are called "Dictionaries". These can be anything from voice biometric information, phrases, names, key words, etc. The computers do most of the sorting, and then tens of thousands of technicians in the United States and around the world interpret those communications that the computer says have high probability of risk. That is done on a wholesale basis. All of our privacy is invaded in that way. In our book Earth Rising, there are European parliament reports, mainstream media reports, and other reports on this technology.

LOSS OF INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM The huge revolution in military affairs and technologies is going to result in a highly directed and controlled society. We are headed for one centralized government. Are we ready for it? My conclusion is no, because there are too many differences between people, between cultures, between populations to suggest that one government can really be all things to all people. I don't think that is possible. The book Earth Rising: The Revolution has a whole section on personal privacy and how it has been eroded.

HOW WILL THEY MAKE NON LETHAL "REVOLUTIONARY TECHNOLOGIES" ACCEPTABLE TO THE PUBLIC? A U.S. Army War College paper written in 1989 called The Revolution in Military Affairs and Conflicts Short of War discussed the military applications for implant technologies. It was the first paper that indicated that the new technologies being contemplated to influence human mental processes and human health (which they call the "revolution in military affairs") would be objectionable to most Americans and fundamentally violate American values. And the military reaction within this paper was, "How do we change American values? " Our military and our governments should reflect and defend our values, but this paper makes it very clear that this is not the case when they say, "These values will conflict" and their solution is, "We have to create villains". Who are the villains that they decided to create in 1989? International terrorists and international drug traffickers. A tremendous amount of media during the last decade has been dedicated to both of these subjects. Are people now a lot more willing to give up some of their personal privacy and freedom for what they perceive as a little more security? The paper said that they have to create this type of framework to force people to give up civil liberties in exchange for safety and security. When people feel insecure they are more inclined to give up civil liberties in exchange for that security.

ELECTRO-MEDICINE There are some big changes coming in the health sciences, and electromedicine is going to present the greatest challenges and the greatest opportunities in medical science over the next couple of decades. When you treat the body at an energetic level, then the physical body will improve.
Electro-cranial stimulation is the use of electric current for creating brain entrainment within those ranges that are effective for learning or creative work.
Electrolaser acupuncture There is a system of electrolaser acupuncture in Europe that is quite effective using a class four laser, not one of these small hand-held, but a class four, which is pretty powerful. It won't burn you; it is not that strong, but it is sufficient to affect your physical health. The practitioners I know who are using this technique are trained acupuncturists. This electrolaser breaks things up and gets the energy flowing through the body again, and has had remarkable results.
Light devices A pulsing light can be used to entrain the brain to move it into various states of consciousness. One of my children used to have trouble sleeping and I used to use this tool for him because it was really effective. Within about five minutes he was asleep.
Sound A technique that is used in conjunction with sound is a bi-aural beep. The human ear cannot hear these extremely low frequencies. One sound wave will come in one ear at say 17,000 Hertz (or cycles per second). Another will come in the other ear at 17,008 Hertz. The 17,000 cancels and leaves a standing beep frequency of 8, which correlates to the alpha rhythm, and your brain locks into that beat rhythm and begins to mirror it and go through chemical changes, not just in the way you think but how your thinking is focused.
Biofeedback There are a number of applications tied to brain biofeedback or neurobiofeedback. In brain biofeedback, you look at a computer monitor. Depending on the system, you might use 4, 8 or 16 channels or more, and they place electrodes on the head. You look at the screen, see what your brain activity is doing in real time, and you can then drive the activity of the brain artificially. You can also learn how to do it yourself without the equipment. Brain biofeedback has become very effective for stroke victims who are trying to reclaim part of their mental capacity and children with Attention Deficit Disorders. Within 30 to 45 sessions, hyperactive children with ADD learned how to modulate their brain activity, focus their attention and learn without Ritalin or other drugs that are being introduced on a mass scale around the world. There is a place in Denver that certifies biofeedback practitioners called Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. WHAT CAN WE DO TO PROTECT OURSELVES? We approach scientists and governments directly. When we started our work with HAARP we sent 80 packages of material to every scientist that we knew of, hoping to change at least one person's mind. We must try to influence political processes and get our legislatures to start investigations. Don't look for some grand plan. Do what you know you can achieve. But no matter where you live today, with the advent of the internet and mass communication systems, it is more possible than it has ever been before to influence public policy. A few people can make a very large difference in what happens around the world.

DIRTY SECRETS OF THE FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY

TRADITIONALLY PROCESSED FOOD We have always processed our food; that is something that humans do. We cook our food - that is one type of processing. Processing has two functions: to make food more digestible and to preserve food during times when it isn't readily available. This type of processing produced traditional foods like sausage and the old-fashioned puddings and haggis. It includes bread, grain products, cheeses, milk products, pickles, butter, everything from wine and spirits to lacto-fermented beverages. Farmers and artisans like breadmakers, cheesemakers, distillers, millers and so forth processed this food. This type of processing made delicious foods, retained their nutritional content, and kept the profits on the farm and in the farming communities where it belonged. Food processing should be a cottage industry and produced locally.

INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING Unfortunately, in modern times we have gone from local artisanal processing to factory and industrial processing which actually destroys the food rather than making it more digestible as traditional processing did. Industrial processing depends upon sugar, white flour, processed and hydrogenated oils, additives, synthetic vitamins and an extrusion processing of grains. These are the tools of the food processing industry. Let's have a look at the typical American breakfast of cereal, skim milk and orange juice.

PACKAGED CEREALS These cereals are produced by a process called extrusion. They take the grains from the farmer, pay them a pittance for them, make the grains into a slurry and put them in a tank, a machine called an extruder. The grains are forced out of a little hole at high temperature and pressure and shaped into little o's and flakes and shredded wheat and so forth, or puffed up. A blade slices off each little flake which is carried past a nozzle and sprayed with a coating of oil and sugar to seal off the cereal from the ravages of milk and to give it crunch.
Paul Stitt has written about the extrusion process used for these cereals which treats every grain with very high heat and high pressure and destroys much of the nutrients in the grains. It destroys the fatty acids; it even destroys the chemical vitamins that are added. The amino acids are rendered very toxic by this process. The amino acid lysine, a crucial nutrient, is especially ravaged by extrusion. This is how all the boxed cereals are made, even the ones in the health food stores. They are all made in the same way and mostly in the same factories. All dry cereals that come in boxes are extruded cereals.
The only advances made in the extrusion process are those which will cut cost regardless of how these will alter the nutrient content of the product. Cereals are a multi-billion dollar business which has created huge fortunes. You would think there would be some studies on the effect on man or animals. There are no published studies and there are only two unpublished studies which were done on rats.

THE RAT EXPERIMENTS Paul Stitt wrote about an experiment conducted by a cereal company in which four sets of rats were given special diets. One group received plain whole wheat, water and synthetic vitamins and minerals. A second group received puffed wheat (an extruded cereal), water and the same nutrient solution. A third set was given water and white sugar. A fourth set was given nothing but water and chemical nutrients. The rats which received the whole wheat lived over a year on this diet. The rats that got nothing but water and vitamins lived about two months. The animals on a white sugar and water diet lived about a month. The company's own laboratory study showed that the rats given the vitamins, water and all the puffed wheat they wanted died within two weeks---they died before the rats that got no food at all. It wasn't a matter of the rats dying of malnutrition. Results like these suggested that there was something actually very toxic in the puffed wheat itself! Proteins are very similar to certain toxins in molecular structure, and the pressure of the puffing process may produce chemical changes, which turn a nutritious grain into a poisonous substance.
Another unpublished experiment was carried out in 1960. Researchers at Ann Arbor University were given 18 laboratory rats. They were divided into three groups: one group received corn flakes and water; a second group was given the cardboard box that the Cornflakes came in and water; the control group received rat chow and water. The rats in the control group remained in good health throughout the experiment. The rats eating the box became lethargic and eventually died of malnutrition. The rats receiving the Cornflakes and water died before the rats that were eating the box! But before death, the Cornflakes rats developed schizophrenic behaviour, threw fits, bit each other and finally went into convulsions. Autopsy revealed dysfunction of the pancreas, liver and kidneys and degeneration of the nerves of the spine, all signs of insulin shock. The startling conclusion of this study is that there was more nourishment in the box than there was in the Cornflakes. This experiment was actually designed as a joke, but the results were far from funny. The results were never published and similar studies have not been conducted.
Most of America eats this kind of cereal. In fact, the USDA is gloating over the fact that children today get the vast majority of their important nutrients from the nutrients added to these boxed cereals. Many of them are at least 50% sugar; but there are many so-called health food cereals sold in the health food stores, and they are made by the same method. They use whole grains and they may use better quality sweeteners, but they are made by the same method. It may come as a shock to you, but these whole grain extruded cereals are probably more dangerous, because they are higher in protein and it is the proteins in these cereals that are so denatured by this type of processing.

THE EXTRUSION PROCESS When we put these cereals through an extruder, it alters the structure of the proteins. "Seins", which comprise the majority of proteins in corn, are located in spherical organelles called protein bodies. One study investigated change in protein body, shape and release of encapsulated alphaseins as a result of the extrusion processing. During extrusion, they found that the protein bodies were completely disrupted and the alphaseins dispersed. The results suggest that seins in Cornflakes, particularly extruded ones, are not confined to rigid protein bodies but can interact with each other and other components of the system forming new compounds which are completely foreign to the human body. The extrusion process breaks down the organelles, disperses the proteins and the proteins become toxic. When they are disrupted in this way, you have absolute chaos in your food, and it can result in a disruption of the nervous system.

OLD FASHIONED PORRIDGE There is only one way to put these companies out of business; and that is not to eat their food. So what are you going to have for breakfast? We need to go back to the old fashioned porridges as I explain in Nourishing Traditions. These porridges should be soaked overnight to get rid of the anti-nutrients which are normally neutralized in the sprouting process. Soaking will neutralize the tannins, complex proteins, enzyme inhibitors and phytic acid which preserve the grains. You soak the grains in warm water and one tablespoon of something acidic like whey, yoghurt, lemon juice or vinegar. The next morning, it cooks in about a minute. Of course, you eat it with butter or cream, coconut and chopped nuts like our grandparents did. The nutrients in the fats are needed to absorb the nutrients in the grains. That was one of the great lessons of Weston Price, that without the fats you can be taking mineral supplements, you can be drinking carrot juice until it comes out your ears, but you cannot absorb the minerals in your food without vitamin A and vitamin D that are exclusively found in the animal fats.

MILK
The minute you start to process your milk you destroy this wonderful food. Milk is one of nature's most perfect foods from nature's sacred animal, the cow, and we are putting cows inside all their lives eating foods that cows never before ate. They produce huge amounts of watery milk which is very low in fat, actually only half the amount of fat cows used to produce. Then they ship it to a factory. Emily Green wrote a very nice article in the LA Times, August 2000 about milk processing. Milk processing plants are big, big factories. Visitors are not allowed in modern milk processing plants because hygiene is very important. The largest milk poisoning in American history occurred in 1985 where more than 5,000 people across three states were sickened after a "pasteurization failure" at an Illinois bottling plant. So when something goes wrong with milk from these big plants, it is pretty catastrophic. Inside the plants all you can see is stainless steel. Inside that machinery, milk shipped from the farm is completely remade. First it is separated in centrifuges into fat, protein and various other solids and liquids. Once segregated, these are reconstituted to set levels for whole, low fat and no fat milks; in other words, they want everything to be completely uniform. Of the reconstituted milks, whole milk will most closely approximate original cow's milk. What is left over will go into butter, cream, cheese, dried milk, and a host of other milk products. The dairy industry loves to sell low fat milk and skim milk because they can make a lot more money from the butterfat selling it for ice cream. When they remove the fat to make low fat milk like 1% or 2% milk, they replace the fat with powdered milk concentrate, which is formed by high temperature spray drying. All reduced-fat milks have dried skim milk added to give them body.
Then the milk is sent by tanker trucks (which are not refrigerated) to bottling plants. The milk is pasteurized at 161 F for 15 seconds by rushing it past super heated stainless steel plates. If the temperature is 200 it is called ultrapasteurized. This will have a distinct cooked milk taste but it is sterile and can be sold on the grocery shelf. In other words, they don't even have to keep it cool. The bugs won't touch it. It does not require refrigeration. As it is cooked, the milk is also homogenized by a pressure treatment that breaks down the fat globules so the milk won't separate. Once processed, the milk will last for weeks, not just days.

MILK ALLERGIES Many people, particularly our children, cannot tolerate the stuff that we are calling milk that is sold in the grocery shelves. And you can see why. It starts with cows in confinement, cows fed feed that cows are not designed to digest, and then it goes into these factories for dismantlement and then put back together again. But real milk from pasture fed cows which is not pasteurized, processed or homogenized, is becoming more available. People are finding out where to find it, and it is very encouraging.

POWDERED MILK When they make dried skim milk, first of all it is forced through a tiny hole at high pressure, and then blown out into the air. This causes a lot of nitrates to form and the cholesterol in the milk is oxidized. Those of you who are familiar with my work know that cholesterol is your best friend; you don't have to worry about cholesterol except you do not want to eat oxidized cholesterol. Oxidized cholesterol is used in research to cause atherosclerosis. So when you drink skim milk or low fat milk because you think that it will help you avoid heart disease, you are actually drinking this oxidized cholesterol which initiates the process of heart disease.

ORANGE JUICE
A quote from Processed and Prepared Foods states that "a new orange juice processing plant is completely automated and can process up to 1,800 tons of oranges per day to produce frozen concentrate, single strength juice, oil extracted from the peel, and cattle feed." They throw the whole orange in there and they actually add enzymes to get as much of the juice as they can even out of the skin. It is a very heavily sprayed crop, being sprayed with organophosphates, cholinesterase inhibitors, which are real mindbenders. They are very toxic to the nervous system and when they put the oranges in the vats and squeeze them, all that pesticide goes into the processing unit. Then they add acids to get every single bit of juice out of these oranges. So you already have a very, very toxic soup.
What about the peel used for cattle feed? This is something new in this business of cattle prisons. The dried left-over citrus peel is processed into cakes which are still loaded with cholinesterase inhibitors and organophosphates. Mark Purdey in England has shown this is correlated with Mad Cow Disease. The use of organophosphates either as a spray on the cows or in their feed is one of the causes of the degeneration of the brain and nervous system in the cow and if it's doing it to the cow, there's a possibility it's doing it to you also. And these things are in the orange juice!
Another abstract states that "Various acid sprays for improving fruit peel quality and increasing juice yield are added to these processed oranges." The FDA or the USDA has told us that we can no longer buy raw juice. But it might surprise you to know that they have found fungus that is resistant to pressure and heat in the processed juices. They found that 17% of Nigerian packages of orange juice and 20% of mango and tomato juices contained these heat resistant fungi. So there is plenty of danger from contamination from these pasteurized juices. They also found E. coli in the orange juice that was pressure resistant and had survived pasteurization.
In one study, heat-treated and acid-hydrolyzed orange juice was tested for mutagenic activity. The authors hypothesized that the heating process produces intermediate products, which under test conditions, give rise to mutagenicity, and cytotoxicity. In other words you have got cancer-causing compounds in your orange juice. In another study, gel filtration and high performance liquid chromatography were used to obtain mutagenic fractions from heated orange juice and they consisted of several different compounds. You have heated your orange juice to death, you have processed it and yet you still have all of these toxic compounds in it.
How does the orange juice stay cloudy? They add soy protein combined with soluble pectin, and that keeps it permanently cloudy. It might be interesting to know, for those of you who are allergic to soy.
Another study shows just how toxic and damaging these juices are to teeth. They found that rats had more tooth decay from these commercial juices than they did from soda pop which is loaded with sugar. So if you want juice with your breakfast, squeeze yourself an organic orange and that's a great place to put your cod liver oil.

ARTIFICIAL FLAVOURS VS. NUTRITIOUS HOME MADE BROTHS AND SAUCES
NATURAL NOURISHING BROTHS In the past, all traditional cultures made use of bones to make broth. They recognized that broth supplied a lot of minerals and nutrients in our diet as well as wonderful flavours. We used to make bone broth, beef broth, chicken broth, fish broth, and we used these broths to make sauces and gravies. When we made sauce or gravy at home, we used the good drippings from the good fat of the meat, added some flour, and then the homemade broth. Most artificial soups bases and sauces have artificial meat-like flavours that we used to get from natural gelatin-rich broth. These kinds of short cuts mean that consumers are shortchanged. When the homemade stocks were pushed out by the cheap substitutes, an important source of minerals disappeared from the American diet. The thickening effects of gelatin could be mimicked with emulsifiers, but of course, the health benefits were lost. And gelatin is a very healthy thing to have in your diet. It helps you digest your proteins properly.

ARTIFICIAL FLAVOURINGS, HYDROLYZED PROTEIN AND MSG Research on gelatin and natural broths came to an end in the 1950s when food companies discovered how to induce mallard reactions and produce meat-like flavours in the laboratory. In a General Foods Company report issued in 1947, chemists predicted that almost all natural flavours would soon be chemically synthesized. Following the Second World War food companies discovered monosodium glutamate, a food ingredient the Japanese had invented in 1908 to enhance food flavours, including meat-like flavours. Humans actually have receptors on the tongue for glutamate - it is the protein in food that the human body recognizes as meat (but the glutamate in MSG has a different configuration which cannot be assimilated properly by the body). Any protein can be hydrolyzed to produce a base containing MSG. When the industry learned how to make the flavour of meat in the laboratory using inexpensive proteins from grains and legumes, the door was opened to a flood of new products including bullion cubes, dehydrated soup mixes, sauce mixes, TV dinners, and condiments with a meaty base. You couldn't have had all of these processed foods without these fake ersatz flavours.
The fast food industry could not exist without MSG and artificial meat flavours to make secret sauces and spice mixes that beguile the consumer into eating bland and tasteless food. The sauces in processed foods are basically MSG, water, some thickener and emulsifier and some caramel colouring. Your tongue is tricked into thinking that it is getting something nutritious when it is getting nothing at all except some very toxic substances. Even the dressings, the Worcestershire sauce, rice mixes, flavoured to fu, bullion cubes, Knorr soups, imitation garlic and onions, dehydrated foods that you add water to, all of these and anything that has a meat-like taste has MSG in it. Almost all canned soups and stews contain MSG, and the "hydrolyzed protein" bases often contain MSG in very large amounts.
So called "homemade soup" in most restaurants are often made by adding water to artificial flavourings in a powdered soup-base or soup cubes and adding chopped vegetables etc. Even things like lobster bisque and sauces in the seafood restaurants are full of these artificial flavours. It's all profit based. They even think it is too costly to just use a little onion and garlic for flavouring. So they are using the artificial flavours instead.
Unfortunately, most of the vegetarian foods are loaded with these flavourings. The list of ingredients in vegetarian hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, baloney etc. may include hydrolyzed protein and other "natural" flavourings.

MSG LABELLING As I point out in my various workshops, the three most toxic additives in our food supply are MSG, hydrolyzed protein and aspartame, and the first two are in all of these secret sauces with "natural flavours". Anything that you buy that says "spices" or "natural flavours" contains MSG! They get around it by putting MSG in the mixes, and if it less than 50% MSG they don't have to put it on the label. You may have noticed that that phrase "No MSG" has actually disappeared. They don't use it anymore because they found out that there was MSG in all the spice mixes, even Bragg's amino acids had to take "No MSG" off. These neurotoxins are in the low fat milk, the spray-dried milk and in all the natural flavourings and spices.

HEALTH PROBLEMS WITH MSG We soon began to realize that there were some problems with this MSG. In 1957 scientists found that mice became blind and obese when MSG was administered by feeding tube. In 1969, MSG-induced lesions were found in the hypothalamus region of the brain. Subsequent studies all pointed in the same direction. MSG is a neurotoxic substance that causes a wide range of reactions from temporary headaches to permanent brain damage. We have a huge increase in Alzheimer's, brain cancer, seizures, multiple sclerosis and diseases of the nervous system, and one of the chief reasons is these flavourings in our food.
MSG is also associated with violent behaviour. And it is everywhere in the food.
Ninety-five percent of processed foods contain MSG, and as you know, in the late 1950s it was added to baby food. They say they have taken it out of the baby food, but they didn't really remove it. They just called it hydrolyzed protein. There is a wonderful book called Excitotoxins, by Russell Blalock. He describes how the nerve cells either disintegrate or shrivel up in the presence of this free glutamic acid, MSG, if it gets past the blood brain barrier. The glutamates in MSG are absorbed directly from the mouth to the brain. Some investigators believe that the great increase in violence in this country is due, not to sugar, nor even the breakfast cereals, but to the huge increase in the use of MSG in the food which began in the late 1950's, and particularly because it was put in baby food in very large amounts.
Describing artificial bacon, a food processing magazine claims: "Here is an engineered meat product which looks, cooks, and tastes like bacon, but is formed and laminated by a co-extrusion process. It is made from a mixture of pork, beef, sugar, salt, MSG, and smoked flavour and has a number of advantages. It shrinks very little in cooking; holds its shape and colour well; contains twice the protein and half the fat of bacon; costs less than bacon and the processed product does not delaminate." Isn't that nice to know? Of course, now they have figured out how to do this without any meat at all by using soy.

FATS AND OILS Oil processing starts with the crude vegetable oil and produces various oils, margarine, shortening and so forth. Don't forget these oils start out loaded with pesticides. The steps involved in processing have to do with bleaching, deodorizing, taking all the nutrients out, filtering, and removing saturates to make the oils more liquid. They also add a hexane solvent in order to squeeze the very last drop of oil out of the seeds. Caustic refining refers to very alkaline, very caustic chemicals that are added to the oil.
MARGARINE Margarine processing uses the cheapest seeds, and most of them are full of pesticides and genetically engineered. Oil is extracted under high temperature and pressure, and the remaining fraction of oil is removed with hexane solvents. Then they steam clean the oils to remove all the vitamins and all the anti-oxidants, but of course, the solvents and the pesticides remain. These oils are mixed with a nickel catalyst and then put into a huge high pressure, high temperature reactor. Emulsifiers are mixed in. What comes out of that reactor, actually, is a smelly, grey type of cottage cheese. Then they mix in the emulsifiers to smooth it out, and steam clean it again to get rid of the horrible smell. Then they bleach it to get rid of the grey colour, and they add artificial flavours and synthetic vitamins. Actually they are not allowed to add a synthetic colour to margarine. They have to add a natural colour, so they add anatto or something natural. It is then packaged in blocks and tubs and then advertising promotes this garbage as a health food.

HYDROGENATED OILS Saturated fat is the type of fat found in lard or butter. It is a straight molecule and it packs together easily. That is why it's solid at room temperature. Unsaturated fat, like the type of fat found in olive oil, is a bent molecule. It has a little bend with two hydrogen molecules sticking out. And when that molecule gets built into your cells, the body wants those two hydrogens together; it makes an electron cloud and that is where your body makes reactions in the cell membrane. During hydrogenation, one of those hydrogens is moved to the other side, and it causes the molecule to straighten out so that it behaves like a saturate. The original unsaturated molecule is called 'cis' fatty acid, because the two hydrogens are together, and then it becomes a 'transfat,' a transfatty acid because the two hydrogens are across from each other. But your body doesn't know that this new molecule is something that has never been in nature before, so when you eat one of these transfats, or transfatty acids, they become built into your cell membranes. When it gets into your cell membranes, your body starts to realize something is wrong, because it wants to make reactions where those two hydrogens are and it can't find them. And so the reaction can't take place. The more transfatty acids that you eat, the more hydrogenated your cells become and the more chaos that you are going to have on the cellular level. So this is a completely phony, toxic molecule that tricks your body into thinking it is something real and your body puts it in a cell, and then the cells can't work.
All of the margarines, shortenings, spreads, even low trans spreads are made with all these horrible ingredients. In the groceries stores there is just a little bit of space for the butter because all the low profit margarine foods have totally invaded the food supply. You cannot buy any packaged or processed foods that don't have these transfatty acids in them. They're in all the chips and crackers, and they now use them for french fries. They used to fry the fries in tallow which is a very safe fat, and gave a little extra profit for the cattlemen and they have lost that market now. Now they use partially hydrogenated soybean oil. It used to be that when you made desserts for your kids, at least they had butter, eggs, cream and nuts and things, all these good wholesome foods. Now they can imitate the butter, eggs and cream and nuts so all you have is sugar, and artificial things in these instant puddings and artificial desserts.

PROBLEMS WITH HYDROGENATED OILS Many, many diseases have been associated with the consumption of these transfatty acids - heart disease, cancer, and degeneration of joints and tendons (that is why we have so many hip replacements today) . The only reason that we are eating this stuff is because we have been told that the competing fats and oils, the butter, the lard, the coconut oil, the palm oil, the tallow and the suet are bad for us and cause heart disease. And that is nothing but industry propaganda to get us to buy substitutes.

PROCESSED FOOD AFFECTS FERTILITY AND FACIAL STRUCTURE Weston A. Price discovered that as children eat these processed foods, with each generation, the facial structure becomes more and more narrow. Healthy faces should be broad. They should have perfectly straight teeth and no cavities. When you are eating real foods, nutrient dense foods, you get the complete and perfect expression of the genetic potential. And that genetic potential, that gift from the Creator to all of us is perfection. We were given a perfect blueprint. Whether or not the body temple is built according to the blueprint depends on our wisdom in food choices. When primitive societies abandoned the traditional diet and began to eat processed foods, the next generation developed the altered facial structure. We know that if you continue this diet for three generations, reproduction ceases and that's what we're seeing now. About 25% of our couples are infertile, and if we don't go back to a diet that produces good facial structure, we are going to be wiped out.

FACTORY FOOD PREPARATION - IS YOUR FOOD MADE BY CARING HANDS? Artificial flavours and preservatives are made by chemical companies in factories; they are not being made by the loving hands of a cook. All the artificial ingredients added to the food help the rich get richer. They have completely processed the life out of the food and then as a concession to the public, thrown in a handful of artificial nutrients. Can you imagine what kind of feeling, what kind of radiation comes from that factory food? It would be better that an individual did not eat at all than to eat food that has been prepared under a feeling of anger, apathy, resentment, depression, or any outward pressure. Think of the pressure that is put on all this food that is made in factories.

SPIRITUAL FOOD PREPARATION - MADE WITH LOVE If a woman could see the sparks of light going forth from her fingertips when she is cooking, and the substance of light that goes into the food she handles, she would be amazed to see how much of herself she charges into the meals that she prepares for her family and friends. It is one of the most important and least understood activities of life, that the radiation and feeling that go into the preparation of food affect everyone who partakes of it. And this activity should be unhurried, peaceful and happy because the substance of the lifestream performing the service flows into that food and is eaten, and actually becomes part of the energy of the receiver.
That substance starts with the way we farm---the farmer that farms with wisdom and love for the land, the dairyman that farms with love for his animals, the cheesemaker who makes the cheese with the love of her craft, the baker who bakes with the love of the final product, the beverage maker who makes the type of delicious and nutritious beverage that I would like to see come to this nation. That energy goes into the food and when it is eaten by the receiver actually blesses the receiver.
That is why the advanced spiritual teachers of the East never eat food prepared by anyone other than their own chelas (disciples). The person preparing the food may be the only one in the household who is spiritually advanced (this is often the case). An active charge of happiness, purity and peace will pour forth into the food from him, and this pours forth into the other members of the family and blesses them. There are more ways than one of allowing the Spirit of God to enter the flesh of man. So I hope that from what I have shown you, you will turn away from godless food.
Someone from the family needs to get back in the kitchen. It doesn't mean you have to spend hours in the kitchen, but you need to spend some time in the kitchen preparing food with love, food that has been grown with love and prepared with wisdom and love. If no one in the family has time to go into the kitchen and prepare food, you need to sit down and rethink how you are spending your time because there is simply no other way to get nourishing foods into our children. The situation is really very critical. If we don't return to good eating practices one mouth at a time, one meal at a time, one farm at a time, preparing our own food and preparing it properly, there is not going to be another generation. YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS

OUR FARM Years ago, there were a lot of oils produced in the United States. Early colonists used conifer oils and birch oils, and lavender, sage and even melissa were grown up until the beginning of World War II for their oils. At that time, chemicals started evolving in the food flavouring, cosmetic and fragrance industries. As a result, there have been no more essential oils produced in North America for aromatherapy phytomedicines since 1942 until we started growing and developing our own fields. We have grown from 1/8 acre in 1989 to 5,500 acres and five distilleries today. In 1995 we expanded to Utah which sits on the same parallel that runs through Spain and Turkey where the majority of the oil production in the world takes place. We have a high desert climate there and summer temperatures of 103 to 104 degrees. It takes high temperatures to produce the oil in the plants, and we believe that we have produced the finest quality of essential oils that have ever been analyzed in the world today. We have a visitor center, park, playground and an animal zoo with over 200 exotic animals, so it is a fun place that I created because I want people to come and have an opportunity to get in touch with nature. We are one hour south of the Salt Lake Airport, right along highway 15.
pH OF THE SOIL Some of our fields had a high acidity with a pH of 5 to 6, and others had a pH of 8 or 9, which was too basic, and we had to bring it down. We trucked in two million tons of manure from organic dairies to build our fields; then we sprayed the fields with microbes and enzymes and put compost on. Last week our soil analysis came back at 7.5 pH which is perfect. All aromatic plants need a soil pH between 7 and 8.

WEEDS AND HERBICIDES People ask us how we handle weeds and grass in that much acreage. We have found a couple of things that work fairly well. We have a Christmas herbicide called “hoe, hoe, hoe” and it is not cheap; that’s why many people have gone away from it. When you are producing aromatic oils, you cannot afford to have weeds and grasses in the plants because the chlorophyll in distillation will alter the oil molecules. In the perfume business that doesn’t matter, and for some aromatherapists it doesn’t matter because they don’t know the difference, but it matters to us. So we spent a lot of money making sure we didn’t have weeds. I have been experimenting with a new herbicide for the last four years which is a combination of the essential oils cinnamon and pine oil, surfactants and lecithin. Lecithin is an emulsifier. We have been spraying this on the grasses and it has been very effective.

SYNTHETIC AND ADULTERATED OILS We have a gas chromatogram as well as four outside laboratories to analyze our oil samples because there is so much adulteration on the market. You have to be familiar with essential oils in order to understand why there would be adulteration.
France is the lavender capital of the world and has been for many years. It has been said that there are 7,000 acres in totalityof French lavender production, producing only 20 to 25 lb. of oil per acre. There are approximately 52,000 acres of lavendin in production producing 150 lb. of oil per acre, so the cost of lavendin is substantially cheaper. When you take into account that International Fragrances and Flavours (IFF) and Quest are the two largest oil brokers in the world, that Quest purchases 147 tons of oil per week (not year, per week) and IFF buys two times more per week than Quest, when you add all of that up you soon discover that there is not enough lavender produced to supply even two oil companies. How can it be? It is called synthetic. The biggest scam that has been perpetrated on the North American continent has been the scam of adulterated and synthetic oils being marketed as pure essential oils. Do you think that a little oil marketer can outbid IFF and Quest for essential oils? So what are they doing? They are replacing lavender with lavendin. They have found they can heat the lavendin up to 17,000 degrees centigrade and flash off the camphor. In lavender, the camphor runs at 0.2 to 0.5 %. That is why lavender will heal even a third degree burn, whereas lavendin will intensify the burn. So they are removing the camphor and adding up to 6% synthetic lenolol acetate and that came on the market last year as pure lavender oil in America. They are not just doing this to one oil; this is happening with many oils.

How do I get pure oils? We are growing them, but we are producing only 10% of what we are marketing. In 1985, I began travelling to Europe to study and learn to plant, harvest and distill, going to the fields of the small growers, the old-timers. These same people produce for me now, and that is how we get our pure oils.

LIMBIC SYSTEM OF THE BRAIN Molecules of essential oil are picked up by the nasal cavity, carried past the pineal and pituitary glands right to the smell sensory cortex. Every endocrine gland in the brain is affected simultaneously and instantly within microseconds of the inhalation of essential oil molecules. Research at Cornell University in 1989 demonstrated that the only stimulus that triggered a response in the amygdala was smell. The amygdala is the gland that controls sexual drive, desire and appetite, as well as trauma, flight and fear. When this gland is stimulated, old experiences often come to the surface.

OXYGENATION PROPERTIES OF ESSENTIAL OILS The sap of the plant, like our blood, carries oxygen, nutrients and antibacterial elements to regenerate the plant tissue. What could be a more ideal form of medicine than a substance that functions like the blood of the human body? This substance can be in the roots, the seed, the leaf, flower, bark, needle, the pitch or hard gum (such as frankincense and myrrh), or it can be in the whole plant. Essential oils have a major purpose both in our bodies and in the plant. Essential oils increase ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the individual cell fuel, which increases the uptake of oxygen in the plant and in the blood and in the tissues of our bodies. Laboratory studies have now documented molecules such as sesquiterpenes and phenols which are responsible for carrying the highest level of oxygen molecules. Essential oils are also immune stimulating, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral. Research at Vienna University and the University of Berlin in 1994 demonstrated that sesquiterpenes in frankincense and sandalwood are responsible for oxygenating the pineal and pituitary glands. Essential oils can increase blood oxygen up to 21%. They showed brain scan thermography photos before and after the inhalation of sandalwood and frankincense showing the increased absorption of oxygen. That explains why when you inhale an essential oil you may experience a euphoric feeling. Today we don’t have enough oxygen in our atmosphere. If you put an oil diffuser in your home, providing you use a pure oil, it can increase brain oxygen. It has been documented that it increases endorphins and neurotransmitters.

DRIED HERBS When we cut the plant and dehydrate it, we evaporate 98% of that life force. When you use fresh herbs for flu and colds, you will notice a change within 20 to 30 minutes. If you take that same herb in a dried capsule form, you don’t get those results. That is what stimulated my research into putting oils back into my herbal formulas to stabilize them. It took me two years to figure out how to do that, and to my knowledge, no one else has done that to this day.

TANSY Tansy vulgare grown in other parts of the world does not have the same chemical properties as the American tansy vulgare. You will read in chemistry books that it is toxic, but the man who operates our distillery was crippled with arthritis and had congestive heart failure when I met him five years ago. He started rubbing tansy right out of the condenser on his joints and that man can walk miles today. He doesn’t dilute it; he rubs it on neat. Then he asked me if he could rub tansy on a tumour which he had had for seven years, but had never had it checked. I said no because essential oils only stay in your body about 20 minutes and they are gone, unless you are using an adulterated or synthetic oil (and then it will stay forever). But he started rubbing the tansy oil on the tumour anyway; and it began to shrink in three days; in seven days it was gone. He doesn’t have congestive heart failure any more. And they say tansy is neurotoxic? Folks, beware of many of the aromatherapy books on the market. Most of the information has been passed around over and over, plagiarized and changed so many times that the accuracy is in question.

CLARY SAGE The statement in aromatherapy books that clary sage is an abortant factor came about through sloppy research at Warwick University. They took the uterus out of a rat, leaving it attached, turned it inside out and put a drop of cold clary sage oil on the exposed internal wall of the uterus and it contracted. Thank God they didn’t put a drop of cold water on it or no one would be able to drink cold water today because it would cause abortions. Dr. Harkess began to label every oil that contained sclerol as an abortant factor. There has never been an abortion known or documented in the history of mankind caused by essential oils. Yes, clary sage and sage and fennel contain sclerol. Clary sage has the highest level. Use it with caution. I have used clary sage with pregnant women right through their entire pregnancies and use it in greater amounts to encourage dilation and delivery. However, all substances can be toxic if you overdose.

FRANKINCENSE Physicians used to use frankincense oil to heal every ailment known to man. Early physicians also had to be priests. So frankincense has the oldest history as a holy anointing oil. Frankincense has been found to be beneficial as an anticatarrhal agent. It breaks up plaque and catarrh and discharges it out of the body. It prevents scarring. If you have had an injury, or surgery or have recently had a baby, use frankincense and lavender because lavender is loaded with anti-scarring properties and you can heal that tissue without a scar. It is an immunostimulant, antidepressant and anti-tumoural. Doctors in Europe prescribe these oils for asthma, bronchitis, ulcers, plaque, cancer, immunodeficiencies, and nervous depression.
Frankincense is often adulterated like most oils in North America. The adulterant is diethylthylate, which is used in all perfumes. Most skin care products carry it because it is odourless, so it doesn't change the fragrance, but it extends the perfume fragrance by 84%. Now chromatograms show that pure oils have a much higher percentage of active ingredients. If your oil is not pure, do not use it, because it will cause complications. Some adulterated oils are carcinogenic.

LAVENDER You must absolutely have lavender in your home, but it must be pure lavender. There is not another substance in the world that we know of today that will heal a first, second or third degree burn as fast as lavender will. I have watched it and witnessed it personally. If you have insomnia, rub it on your tummy, your neck, your shoulders and the bottom of your feet. It is a beautiful experience to let the esters and aldehydes in that lavender calm the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system and relax you. It helps headaches, PMS symptoms, and arthritic pain. Lavender covers such a multitude of sins. It’s just fabulous.

LEMON is a beautiful oil. It is high in sesquiterpines. So are lavender and peppermint. Lemon stimulates the production of leukocytes so it is a very powerful immune supporter for the body. Lemon oil is a very powerful antiviral and antibacterial agent. If you have a sore throat, inflamed tonsils, take two or three drops of lemon oil in a glass of water, gargle with it, sip on it, and you will be amazed at how quickly that sore throat will disappear. Lemon oil is very powerful in its vitamin P action for increasing microcirculation. It will help to prevent varicose veins, spider veins and blood hemorrhaging particularly if you use it with cypress oil. Lemon oil helps increase the circulation to the eyes. Put it in your diffuser and let it fill the house. Put it on your night table and let it mist your face. It is a powerful antiseptic for improving hygiene if you use it in your dishwasher and your washing machine. Put it in a spray bottle and use it for polishing your furniture instead of Lemon Pledge, which is synthetic. Put it in your Rainbow vacuum cleaner and in your carpet shampoo. It is incredible how it will sterilize your home environment where bacteria gathers. If you get grease or gum on your clothes, put lemon oil on the stain.

PEPPERMINT OIL This is another beautiful oil that everyone in the family needs to have. It has a fabulous ability to prevent vomiting, nausea, cramping, and diarrhea. Take just two drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water. Parasites do not like peppermint oil, so it is a parasite chaser. It will reduce body temperature if you have a fever. With children just rub it on the bottom of their feet with a little olive oil. When you are using essential oils on children, always dilute the oil with a vegetable oil.

EUCALYPTUS OILS are very good for respiratory problems. I make blends specific for respiratory problems. People who have asthma, emphysema, pneumonia and respiratory problems respond best and fastest through rectal retention enemas. Put 40 drops of an essential oil with a teaspoon of olive oil in the rectum at night, retain it through the night, and you will feel incredible in the morning.

PATCHOULI AND MYRRH These are good for beautiful skin. Myrrh is also beautiful for throat infections and laryngitis.

THIEVES’ BLEND We tested out thieves’ blend on four different virus colonies. Out of those four colonies, it killed all the viruses at 99.9% with absolute zero mutation. That formula is now in our toothpaste. We have the first oral toothpaste on the market with documented published research on the killing of oral bacteria without using sodium laurel sulfate. Dentarome is the name of it.

DILUTION You must know the level of phenols, carbonyls, terrapins and citrols in your oils because they are caustic to the skin. So you can cause skin irritation very easily if you don’t know what you are doing. A lot of people overuse oils. Instead of using one drop, they will use 10 or 15 drops. Ten or 15 drops will do no more for a person than one drop in most cases. So keep that in mind. When you first start out with somebody who has never used oils, it is wise to thin the oil and check their sensitivity level first. Another way you can check their sensitivity is to take one little drop, put it right behind the ear, and if it starts to turn red and spread from that site, you know they have sensitivity. So you definitely want to thin your oils and experiment with them.

EXODUS II I know we will be able to stop virus mutations with essential oils and combinations thereof. I have a combination called Exodus II, using the oils right out of the Bible, formulating them in a similar formulation. We have seen conditions reversed that could be reversed with nothing else, like respiratory and Epstein Barr conditions. We have three medically documented cases of lupus that have been totally reversed with one single oil blend called immune power. Without question, the essential oils are God’s gift to man and they are truly the missing link in medicine.

FLUORIDE, THE SILENT KILLER




HARMFUL EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE Fluoride is used as an insecticide and a roach killer. Even at the level they use to fluoridate your public water supply, usually at the rate of about 1 part fluoride for every million parts of water (1 ppm) by weight, it causes severe problems. As little as one-tenth of an ounce of fluoride will cause death. It is more poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. No one will die from drinking one glass of fluoridated water, but it is the long term chronic effects of drinking fluoridated water that affects health. Dental fluorosis is one of the earlier signs of fluoride poisoning, appearing in mild cases as a chalky area on the tooth, and in more advanced cases, teeth become yellow brown or black and the tips break off. Fluoride in the drinking water leads to fluoride levels in tissues and organs which damage enzymes. This results in a wide range of chronic diseases. Fluoride weakens the immune system and may cause allergic type reactions including dermatitis, eczema and hives. It causes birth defects and genetic damage. Fluoride is likely to aggravate kidney disease, diabetes and hypothyroidism. The amount consumed in drinking water has been shown to lower thyroid activity in humans. It also causes the breakdown of collagen which results in wrinkling of the skin and the weakening of ligaments, tendons and muscles. There are a number of ways that fluoride can be administered. The most insidious way is through the drinking water. Some of you have it in your mouthwashes, or in your toothpaste, or you may take a fluoride supplement which is dispensed in pills or drops.


FLUORIDE A BY-PRODUCT OF INDUSTRY Fluoride is an industrial waste product, a by-product of the aluminum industry and the phosphate fertilizer companies who have mountains of fluoride that is polluting the ground water. They have to get rid of it, and the old solution to pollution is dilution - just put it in the drinking water. People living in the vicinity of aluminum, phosphate, steel, clay, glass and enamel plants are exposed to high levels of fluoride in the air. For instance, the Hamilton area shows extremely high lung cancer rates that decrease as you get away from the downwind plume of the steel mills. If fluoride was left with the phosphate and sold to farmers, it would kill their crops. That is what originally happened when they used this high fluoride phosphate, and the farmers said they were going back to manure.


FLUORIDATED TOOTHPASTE Unless it says on the package does not contain fluoride, you are using fluoridated toothpaste. Fluoridated toothpaste contains 1,000 ppm fluoride. There is enough fluoride at 1,000 to 1,500 parts per million to kill a small child if they consume the entire tube. If a child consumes just part of it, it could result in either acute or chronic toxicity. A four to six year-old child will swallow 25 to 33% of the toothpaste they put on their toothbrush. Don't let them put it in their mouth unless when they swallow it, it is good for them. People ask me where they can get non-fluoridated toothpaste. They have many brands of non-fluoridated toothpaste in health food stores, so pick up your toothpaste there, and make sure it doesn't have fluoride, because some health food stores have a couple of brands of fluoride toothpaste. Not everything in a health food store is safe. Always read the labels. Pepsodent toothpaste also doesn't have fluoride. If you want something inexpensive, use baking soda and sea salt, but make sure you dissolve the salt crystals in water before you brush your teeth; otherwise the salt crystals will score the enamel.


GUM DAMAGE Fluoride actually causes gum damage at the concentrations used in fluoridated toothpaste at 1,000 ppm. Fluoride poisons enzyme activity and slows down the ability of the gums to repair themselves. If you brush your teeth with fluoridated toothpaste, you will suffer gum damage.


FLUORIDE GELS AND SOLUTIONS Some schools have weekly fluoride mouth-rinse programs in which the children swish fluoride solutions around in their mouths. The fluoride comes in a sugar size packet, and on the outside of the packet it says fatal if swallowed. If your child is in any of these programs at school, get them out of it. We have testimonials one after the other of children who come home with a stomach ache because they had actually accidentally swallowed part of it, and children do accidentally swallow. Fluoride treatments at the dentist's office are equally hazardous. In the typical fluoride treatment, 10,000 parts per million fluoride, which comes in a flavoured gel to make it taste good, is left on the teeth for about five minutes. Then the child spits it out, though invariable he swallows some. The child cannot rinse, eat or drink for at least half an hour afterward. Children have died after swallowing fluoride topically applied on their teeth. In one well publicized case, the dental hygienist neglected to tell the child to wash his mouth out and spit out the solution. The child began vomiting and sweating and died the same day. Over 6% of children receiving fluoride treatments at the dental office suffer gastrointestinal distress such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain either immediately or within one hour after treatment. According to scientists at the U.S. Public Health Service, topical fluoride is practically ineffective in reducing tooth decay, and damages gum tissue. According to the American Association for the Advancement of Science, "the high concentrations of some products (gels, mouthwash, tablets, toothpaste, etc.) may be neither biologically desirable nor clinically necessary".


FLUORIDE SUPPLEMENTS Tablets and drops are another means of administering fluoride. The Canadian Dental Association has admitted in the last couple of years that children under the age of three should not be given fluoride supplements. And yet dental practitioners and pediatricians who haven't kept up to date are still giving fluoride supplements to young children. I advise against fluoride supplements for anyone.


ADDITION OF FLUORIDE TO PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS The addition of fluoride to the public water supply is the most insidious way of chronically poisoning hundreds of millions of people around the world. Dr. Dean Burk was former chief chemist of the National Cancer Institute, and has co-authored studies with many Nobel prize winners including Otto Warburton, and he is the co-author of the most cited paper in the entire field of biochemistry - the Lineweaver-Burk Enzyme Kinetics. In the 1970s, Dean Burk and I conducted a number of studies which linked fluoride and cancer. There was already scientific evidence from the 1950s that fluoride was causing cancer, and a 1963 study by Driscowitz and Norton showed that increased fluoride concentrations in the media of experimental animals increased tumour incidence from 12% at the lowest concentrations up to 100%. Taylor and Taylor published a study in 1965 at the University of Texas in all the mainline medical journals showing that 1 ppm or even 0.5 ppm increased tumour growth rate by 25%. These studies bothered me and around 1975 I found that we had enough data to compare the cancer death rate before and after fluoridation of fluoridated communities and compare them to non-fluoridated communities. Based on millions of subjects, the study showed a 5 to 10% increase in cancer death rate within three to five years after fluoridation was put into the water after correcting for various demographic factors like age, race and sex. All the variables were controlled. We followed this by a series of other studies. In 1977 we had full blown Congressional Hearings, and Congress stated: "We can no longer assure the American public that fluoride does not cause cancer". Dean Burk and other well-known scientists were there, and on the opposing side was the American Dental Association. Ten years later, Proctor and Gamble, makers of Crest toothpaste found that fluoride was causing precarcinogenic changes in cells.


HOW FLUORIDE AFFECTS THE DNA REPAIR MECHANISM Epidemiological evidence shows that fluoride causes cancer. It does this in several ways. It can actually cause the original lesion. In each one of our cells we have genetic material called DNA, and this DNA is double stranded, it has a helix shape and these two strands of DNA are held together by semi strong bonds called hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen bonds also hold proteins together. Fluoride goes in and breaks those hydrogen bonds, and consequently destabilizes DNA. It can't cause a lesion in the DNA itself, but if it is in a site of the cell that regulates cell growth, it will cause uncontrolled cell growth. A few minor modifications will give you first a tumour, and secondly an invasive tumour or cancer. So fluoride has the ability to actually cause the cancer. We have a marvelous system of repair and rejuvenation. Even if we go out in the sun, even if we have a lesion by fluoride itself, we have what is called a DNA repair enzyme system. So any lesion caused by the sun or ultra-violet light will be repaired. The DNA repair enzyme system will cut off the ends and use the complementary strand to repair itself and make intact genetic material. The unfortunate thing is that one part per million fluoride, the amount of fluoride that they use in the public water system, depresses the DNA repair system by 50%. So they have attacked us on the first defense of damage to our genetic material. Since people can get cancer from so many different causes, fluoride is just increasing our chances of getting cancer.


THE IMMUNE SYSTEM Even if the cancer cell starts dividing and invading surrounding tissues, if our immune system is strong enough, it will kill those cancer cells without any remedies, without chemotherapy, without anything and will destroy the occasional cancer that maybe all of us have had at one time or another. Once in a while cancer breaks through when the immune system is low or the DNA repair enzyme system is down, and we will get cancer. Fluoride causes the lesion; it inhibits the DNA repair enzyme, and then inhibits our immune system by 30 to 70%. And that occurs at only one part per million. How does it do that? Our immune system is composed of white blood cells including phagocyte cells that are carried in the blood system. If there is an infection or cancer or some foreign agent, these phagocytes will go to that area and start engulfing and destroying this bad agent whether it is a cancer cell or a bacterium or virus. It engulfs it in a little pocket called a lysosome which squirts enzymes and breaks down the bad agent into little pieces. They have other things called peroxisomes which burn that agent with free radicals and either destroy it or use it for building new and healthy cells. These phagocytes will actually eat up bacteria or viruses, and toxic substances are just thrown off. Studies from the University of Glasgow show that fluoride inhibits these white blood cells. Fluoride at levels below one part per million causes a chronic release of these free radicals from the white blood cell out into the blood stream where it starts slowly damaging your body by increasing free radicals. This is one of the reasons why we call fluoride the ageing factor.


NON-FLUORIDATED WATER Industrial quality reverse osmosis water brings the total dissolved solids down to less that one part per million for all the pollutants that might be in there. Distilled water will remove 99% of the fluoride all of the time. I also recommend a pre-charcoal filter on a distiller to remove volatiles so that you are not getting noxious gases in your home. These are worse when you inhale them than when you drink them, because they go right into your blood stream and into your lungs. You can buy your water at the supermarket, but quite frankly you don't know what the quality of the water is. You must take care that the fluoride concentration is less than 0.2 ppm. Some spring waters like Vichy (which contains 8 ppm) are notoriously high in fluoride. Avoid beverages such as soft drinks, beer and fruit juices from concentrate that have been bottled in fluoridated areas. Teas, even brewed in fluoride-free water will contain about 1.2 to 2.4 ppm fluoride. Some people drink 8 to 15 cups of tea a day, and these amounts are large enough to cause dental fluorosis and other harmful effects.


MINERALS IN WATER If you want to get minerals, you must get them in the proper balanced ratio. Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and other minerals must be in a ratio that is acceptable to a living organism. Get your minerals from healthy living organisms like vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds, and if you are not a vegetarian, like meats, bones or bonemeal. Beet greens are at the top of the list as a mineral supplement. I don't recommend milk or dairy as a calcium source; cow's milk has a very different constitution than human milk.


DETOXIFICATION If you stop taking fluoride, your body will get rid of it eventually. The fluoride that gets stuck in your bones gets stuck there for life pretty much, but that is not necessarily bad. Where fluoride has adverse effects is in the soft tissues. If you take over 200 mg of vitamin C per day that is all you really need for removing fluoride. In three to six months you should have about 99% of it out which is good enough.


GOOD DIET, NOT FLUORIDE, IS NECESSARY FOR HEALTHY TEETH Many primitive societies whose drinking water contains negligible amounts of fluoride go through life without tooth decay because they eat very little sugar and other refined carbohydrates.


DOES FLUORIDE REDUCE TOOTH DECAY? Numerous attempts have been made to show that the amount of fluoride used to fluoridate public water systems reduces tooth decay under laboratory conditions. Still no laboratory study has ever shown that this amount of fluoride is effective in reducing tooth decay. Further, there are no epidemiological studies on humans showing that fluoridation reduces tooth decay that meet the minimum requirements of scientific objectivity such as the double blind design.

DEATHTRAPS IN THE COSMETICS WE USE

My journey into cosmetic research began about ten years ago when I was told I would not recover my health. I was suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, allergies and immunological defect; I was having 10 to 12 seizures a day, and walking with two canes. I had always been a heavy user of cosmetics, and began to suspect in particular the acrylic nails I had used for years, so I began to research the ingredients they use.

INGREDIENTS IN COSMETICS Cosmetics are anything that we apply to our bodies including soap, toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash, deodorant and shaving cream. There isn't one person I have ever met who knew anything about cosmetics, and that is because the chemistry of cosmetics has always been cloaked in secrecy. The United States has had labelling laws for the last 20 years, but here in Canada there are no labels on containers. We need to let Health Canada know how seriously we need labels to disclose what is actually in these products.

MOLECULES WHICH PENETRATE THE BODY When you put a coating of creme or shaving gel on your face, these chemicals penetrate the skin and get inside the body, but not everything you put on your skin is actually going to be absorbed. Some molecules are too large to get in, but some are very tiny and can stay in the body for many days. Everyone used to think the skin is the perfect barrier, but one of the transport systems that takes these harmful ingredients into the body is the hair follicle.

SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE Sodium lauryl sulfate is a very strong surfactant that was developed for washing garage floors. The problem is that it denatures protein, and the body is made up of protein. Sodium lauryl sulfate is used in shampoos, toothpaste, lotions and creams. Research shows that it causes damage to the eyes, the cells and the entire body. It can combine with other ingredients in the container and create nitrosamines which cause skin damage and irritation. A dental association in Japan tested sodium lauryl sulfate on bacteria, and found that it is a mutagen which means that it can change the genetics within the cell. In children under six, just the absorption of this ingredient through the scalp every day is enough to prevent their eye proteins from linking up properly. These harmful ingredients are banned in Europe and Central America. Sodium laureth sulfate is also a toxic surfactant (milder but has ether added which is worse) used in shampoos and toothpastes.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL This is anti-freeze. If it spills in the garage, we wipe it up right away because we know that dogs and cats lick it and could die from it. The manufacturer of propylene glycol actually sends out a safety data sheet which states that when applied to the skin it causes liver abnormalities and kidney damage. Propylene glycol has the ability to get into the skin, into the blood stream and into the body where it is stored for days and weeks at a time. It can actually alter brain waves to a state of anxiety. Propylene glycol is used in most cosmetic products, as well as food products like ice cream and muffins. It is a humectant and holds in the moisture. It is used in practically every single lipstick on the market, so has clear access to the limbic system of the brain.

COLOURANTS I wore red lipstick for years and years, and I don't wear it anymore. I don't trust anybody's reds. If you took FD & C Red No.3, which is found in a great deal of cosmetics and put it into a petrie dish with breast tissue, you will find breast cancer. This ingredient is still on the market, and we know it causes cancer.

NAIL POLISH The nails do absorb chemicals from nail polish, remover and the glue used with acrylic nails.

CONTAMINANTS These contaminants do not appear on the label. It is not the cosmetic manufacturers who cause the contamination, but the suppliers of the raw materials. What we want in the industry is to have the actual raw materials cleaned up. Contamination can occur from the cleaning of the plants or from the solvents they use, and most of the products on the market are contaminated. DEA (diethanol amine) is widely used in shampoos, and scientists have been reporting that DEA, whether or not it's a DEA cocamide, mixes with the nitrogen-containing molecule in the same container and creates nitrosamines which get into your body and are carcinogens. Sometimes ingredients which aren't harmful alone may go on to create a formaldehyde or a contaminant. In a recent study, they tested 54 ethoxylated moisturizing ingredients, and found all 54 of them contained exceedingly high levels of 1,4 dioxane which is a powerful xeno-estrogen.

XENO-ESTROGENS Women today have so many problems with their hormones being out of balance with PMS and menopausal symptoms, and this shouldn't be because it doesn't occur in Third World countries, China or Japan. Menopause is a North American disease and it may just be that we have created it through cosmetic use. We have a major problem with hormone mimickers like xeno-estrogens affecting our endocrine systems. A xeno-estrogen communicates with our cells as if it were an estrogen. Many ingredients in cosmetics have the ability to be a xeno-estrogen. If found in a shampoo, it can lower the sperm count in men! And any exposure between the ages of birth to about six years old can definitely alter a child's hormones. So I always say "Mothers if you want your boys to grow up to be cowboys don't put them in a bubble bath!"

EXTRACTION PROCESS We hear a lot today about ingredients coming from natural sources like coconuts. But to get the oil from a coconut and put it into a container of shampoo or face cream, it has to go through some type of chemical process, and in this process, many contaminants are formed. Many of us are not aware that essential oils and other products have been extracted from the plant with solvents like propylene glycol and benzene. There are better ways of doing this such as cold pressing, natural extractions and distilling.

FRAGRANCES Fragrance goes straight into the limbic system of the brain. A friend of mine who is a great researcher sent me some scans of people's brains before and after being exposed to fragrance. Perfumes and fragrances are actually made of 5,000 hydrocarbons which are all synthetics. There are no roses pressed into that beautiful bottle. When a person's body begins to break down, the first thing that happens is they become sensitive to perfumes, room sprays, laundry detergents, etc. We are actually absorbing and breathing these in, and the Environmental Protection Agency lists them as causing nervous disorders and brain disorders, and they are investigating a connection between fragrance and multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. Anything that a person is breathing in should be absolutely natural, and if you are using essential oils you must make sure that they have not been processed with some type of chemical solvent like propylene glycol or benzene.

ESSENTIAL OILS You cannot assume that the natural essential oils are all naturally processed. Most of them are contaminated, since 95% of companies extract the essential oil with solvents like propylene glycol, and they don't tell you because it's still considered pure oil. When it's contaminated like this, the healing properties of the plant are diminished. Synthetic essential oils are also on the market, and these cannot do the same thing as the natural product. Most of the essential oils must be checked to make sure they are not synthetic and that the extraction process is natural (steam distilled). It is under investigation right now, and will be reported in my newsletters.

BABY PRODUCTS CONTAIN PETROLEUM BY-PRODUCTS AND CARCINOGENS Because shampoos irritate baby's eyes, they put an ingredient called ethylene oxide in the shampoo. Look on the Internet; you won't find one report which doesn't call it a carcinogen. It loads their system up with 1,4 dioxane. Another problem with baby products is that they contain an enormous amount of petroleum by-products like mineral oil and petrolatum, and petroleum by-products can be contaminated with polycyclic hydrocarbons, dangerous carcinogens. Babies do not have immune systems which are able to tolerate these chemicals, so it's very important to have all baby products reevaluated. There is enough fluoride in a tube of toothpaste to kill a child. Children sometimes take too much on their toothbrush and swallow quite a lot.

MELATONIN Not all synthetics are bad. Not one drop of melatonin on the market is natural; it is all synthetically derived, and yet we know that melatonin works and it is not harmful to the body. The synthetic molecule is identical to the natural molecule. It's just that they had to kill thousands and thousands of horses originally to get enough of the natural substance to run studies in the first place. So in some instances, it is preferable to use the synthetic rather than the natural form of the ingredient.

RECIPES My book has a chapter with recipes for making your own cosmetics, but the problem with making your own cosmetics is that the oils in the cremes are so heavy that they do not allow your skin to breath and expel toxins, so you have to be very careful about that. These days moisturizers are formulated using silicone which forms a mesh-like covering on the skin which allows your skin to breathe.

LET'S CLEAN UP THE PRODUCTS Cosmetic ingredients are not regulated by the government. The industry is self-regulating. You must educate yourselves and demand that the manufacturers use safe ingredients and processes like vacuum stripping to remove the contaminants. This will increase the price of the raw material by about five times, but the cosmetic industry usually has maybe 5 to 15 cents worth of ingredients in it and the rest has all been going to profit, so there is plenty of room for change.
